Our View on Adoption

Adoption is a wonderful metaphor for our salvation in Jesus. We are all adopted sons and daughters of God, brought fully into His family and loved unconditionally. We hope and pray that we honor God in this journey and come to know more deeply the depth of His love and our true identity in Him through this awesome experience.

"I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." 2 COR 6:18

We're Pregnant!

FIRST POSTING: We're pregnant! 18 months and counting... that is, since we decided to expand our family and pursue an international adoption from Colombia. A couple of agencies later (we are very happy with Gladney), and after much paperwork, homestudies, fingerprints, psychological studies, uncomfortable medical probes, various hiccups and speed bumps, and lots of prayer, we got the call on Dec 4, 2009 that our dossier had been accepted by ICBF (Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar). We are now approved as adoptive parents in Colombia - for a child age 0-35 months, preference a boy - and are awaiting our referral. As a Colombian family, we get bumped to the top of the referral list. Gladney tells us the last Colombian family approved had a referral within 6 weeks of their ICBF approval. GULP!

We want to document the last few months of this journey here as we prepare to receive the child God is preparing for our family – the day we get the call, our travel to Colombia, the unimaginable day we receive our new child, and the inevitable ups and downs from there.

We call him "Mateo", when we talk about him (or her), when Camila and Gisele pray him. Just last night, Camila had a dream about the day we pick up Mateo. We picked up one baby boy, it was his birthday, and all the other babies were pulling Camila’s hair.

Thanks for following our journey and for your prayers for "Mateo" and for all of us.
